The Posts are purely temporary. The Selected candidate may not claim for regular appointment at this Institute. The JRF, Field Assistants and Technical Assistants will have to assist the P.I. in doing the different field works. The walk-in-interview will be held on 8th July, 2010 (11.00 AM) in the Conference Hall, Rain Forest Research Institute, Jorhat, Assam.
The Candidates are requested to report the reception between 9.30 AM to 10.30 AM and submit their applications on the prescribed format. Original Certificates must be produced at the time of Interview. Candidate may apply more than one post. The decision of the Director, RFRI, Jorhat will be final and binding in all the matter pertaining to screening, interview and final selection.

Application for Ph.D Programme-2010 (UNDER JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW PROGRAMME)
National Institute of Virology is a premiere institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research. The main focus of the research is on viruses of public health importance, i.e. Hepatitis, Respiratory, Enteric, Encephalitis, Hemorrhagic and Emerging group of viruses. The area of research encompasses basic virology, molecular aspects, epidemiology, vaccinology, antivirals, pathogenesis and bioinformatics.
Applications are invited for Ph.D Programme in different areas of virology.
Total Number of seats: – 22 Vacancies (UR-05, OBC – 07, SC – 06, ST – 04, Out of these, two seats are reserved for PH candidates).
Minimum Qualifications for NIV PhD 2010:
A. Master Degree in Life Sciences/Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Biophysics/Virology/ Veterinary science/other branches of Life Sciences/Biological Sciences and from any recognized University/ Institution recognized by Pune University.
B. First division or equivalent grade or at least 60% marks or equivalent grade point in all major examinations from Higher Secondary (10+2) onward.
C. Qualifying in one of the following Tests (with validity as on 1st of August 2010) is mandatory for the candidates applying for Ph.D.
CSIR-UGC NET for JRF or UGC-NET for JRF or DBT- JRF or ICMR JRF or any other qualifying examination approved by University of Pune.
D. Candidates who have not yet cleared their qualifying examinations and expect to complete all the requirements for the degree (including all examinations, project dissertation, viva-voce JRF etc.) before July 31, 2010, are also eligible to apply.
E. The minimum requirement of FIRST CLASS in the qualifying examination is relaxable to PASS CLASS for SC/ST candidates. Read more
