Postdoctoral Position – CIMMYT – Mexico
Postdoctoral Position Durum Wheat Breeding and Germplasm Enhancement at CIMMYT, Mexico.
The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) is seeking motivated candidates for Postdoctoral position of Durum Wheat Breeding and Germplasm Enhancement. The position is available for 3 years and will be based at CIMMYT Headquarters, near Mexico City, Mexico.
Candidate will work as a member of “Durum Wheat Improvement” team, in CIMMYT’s Global Wheat Program, and contribute to collaborative research at CIMMYT and with other institutions, on durum wheat breeding and research emphasizing the widening of genetic variability for rust resistance in durum wheat global germplasm. The candidate will also conduct studies to characterize and start utilizing novel sources of resistance to rust both from the existing improved germplasm and genetic resources.
Who can Apply?
- Ph.D. in plant breeding, genetics or pathology of wheat or other cereals.
- Experience with field based experimentation.
- Experience with field and greenhouse-based rust work.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Ability to form part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to work under multicultural setting
Experience with molecular markers, genetic mapping in wheat or other cereals and knowledge of Spanish are considered advantageous.
