Structural Biology Scientist Position available at Pacific Biosciences, California.
The Enzymology Group within Pacific Biosciences is seeking a scientist to work within a team environment on structure-based design projects. The role will involve obtaining 3-D structural information on novel proteins and protein-ligand complexes by X-ray Crystallography and close collaboration with molecular modelers, computational scientists, and enzymologists. Responsibilities encompass purification and characterization of recombinant proteins in combination with various nucleotide analogs, and DNA for X-ray crystallization. The position includes setting up crystallization screens and optimizing conditions, data collection and structure determination, as well as involvement in advancing the technical and scientific expertise of structural biology. The selected candidate will have broad responsibility for protein deliveries and crystallization and for how the research within structural biology integrates with wider range corporate goals. The individual will develop and contribute to the company’s intellectual property domain by way of patents and/or publications.
