University Teaching Assistantship Scheme
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates (general and reserved categories) who have obtained their Master’sdegree in the current year (2009) and the previous year (2008) and have scored more than 55% marks in the Post-Graduate as well as Under-Graduate examinations will be eligible. Only those candidates who are in the top 30% of the successful candidates of each academic session will be eligible to beconsidered for the UTA Scheme.
- (In Departments where the total no. of students is 10 to 12 only, all candidates having secured 60% marks both in graduation and
- post-graduation will be eligible to be considered for the UTA Scheme.).
Period of Assistantship:
The University Teaching Assistantship will be for four years, and may be renewed
annually after a performance review and recommendations by Departmental
Research Committee.
No. of Assistantships:
Maximum of five Assistantships for small Departments and Ten Assistantships in
those Departments where more than 200 students are admitted per year per
Department.
Note:
1. In semester based Post-Graduate courses, applications for UTA be invited
after the third semester examination by the Department. The top 30% may
be determined on the basis of the performance in three semesters taken
together.
2. Since UTA scheme has been introduced for encouraging doctoral (Ph.D.)
research, it will be available only for candidate’s pursuing their Ph.D.
programme. Those Department where M.Phil. is a pre-requisite for Ph.D.
admissions, will not be able to avail of this scheme.
3. If a candidate is rejected in one year, then the candidate becomes ineligible
to be considered again in the following year under the Scheme.
4. Candidates from reserved categories irrespective of being/not-being in top
30% of the successful candidates of each academic session will be eligible
to be considered provided they have secured 55% marks in the Post-
Graduate and Under-Graduate examinations.

How To Apply:
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the University Teaching Assistantship Scheme-2009 (UTA Scheme), for the year
2009 to assist the faculty in the Departments who are engaged in the teaching of M.A./M.Sc. programmes.
Last date to apply :
The last date of submission of applications to the concerned Head of the
Department is September 30, 2009.
