About WII :
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), is a premier national autonomous Institution of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The institute has been assigned a task by the National Tiger Conservation Authority, Govt. of India, to cover major landscapes for monitoring tiger, co-predator, prey and their habitat under the `All India Tiger Status & Population Estimation Exercise’.

The WII wishes to engage twenty two (22) research personnel on a contractual basis for the above mentioned project. The assignment will be for a period of 1 year initially, which may be extended for further period(s) according to project requirements and satisfactory performance of the individuals. The essential and desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply for the available positions are given below. The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason

Research Personnel
Essential Qualification:
Should possess Masters’ degree in Wildlife Science/Botany/Zoology/ Forestry/Environmental Science/Veterinary Science/Agricultural Science/ Life Science from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks
Desirable Qualification:
An aptitude &/or experience in wildlife research, a demonstrated aptitude for field work and basic computer skills.
JobDescription:
The selected candidates will be trained in animal population estimation, vegetation sampling and habitat evaluation techniques during an orientation programme.  Thereafter they shall be required to work intensively in forest and wildlife areas across the country for collection, collation and analyses of data.

Research Personnel ‘Biotech’
Essential Qualification:
Should possess Masters’ degree in Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Genetics/ Microbiology with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
Desired:
Knowledge of extraction of DNA from biological material, demonstrated working knowledge of P.C.R. and use of DNA sequencer
JobDescription:
The selected candidate would be required to extract DNA from tiger scats collected from select landscapes in the country, for molecular analysis.
