Enzymology
- Life is controlled by a set of biochemical algorithms and all life reactions abide by this logic and enzymes can be looked upon as molecules which mediate and run this show.
- Enzyme kinetics is the study of the chemical reactions that are catalyzed by enzymes, with a focus on their reaction rates.
- The study of an enzyme’s kinetics provides insights into the catalytic mechanism of the enzyme, its role in metabolism, how its activity is controlled in the cell, and how drugs and poisons can inhibit its activity.
- With the industries looking forward to simplify biochemical manipulations use of more and more enzymes have become inevitable replacements to the conventional chemical and microbial conversions.
The module includes
- Production & extraction of the enzyme
(You could choose from Amylase, Protease, Esterase, Invertase, Alkaline phosphotase, Phytase, Tannase, and many more from - plant, bacterial and fungal sources)

- Determination of optimum pH, Temp for the activity of the enzyme
- Study of the effect of changing enzyme, substrate, activator, inhibitor concentration on the activity of the enzyme
- Immobilization of the enzyme
- Determination of molecular weight of the enzyme
Fermentation Technology
- Fermentation, which is the heart of biotech industry, summarizes the end utility of all biotechnological research. It is the technology for production that will attend to most of the human needs, from enzymes to bio polymers, bio fuels, in the days to come.
- The use of fermenter is not only in production but also in standardization where optimizations of production processes are done to achieve maximum yield since the industrial profit hovers around the criteria of maximum output with minimum input.
- Immobilization is a break through technology in this arena which allows economical enzyme aided fermentation with reusability of used enzyme and reduced downstreaming.
