Research Fellow – Microbial Ecology – UT Sydney

Research Fellow Position in Microbial Ecology available at University of Technology, Sydney.

Posting for Microbial ecologist working at the intersection of molecular (genomic/proteomic/biochemical) expression in protist diversity (species or communities) and their functional response to climate change. The person will have a background in molecular microbiology and aquatic ecology. Knowledge of gene regulation, molecular probes, antibodies, quantification of metabolic proteins, protein interactions, bioinformatics, advanced microscopy (live imaging), screening, isolation and culturing are highly advantageous.

The appointee will be expected to provide research leadership and build research capacity in this research domain and seek funding from external sources, with support of the Research and Innovation Office. A key requirement for the appointee is to foster international and national links with research groups and with industry, government, professions and community organisations. A very good publication record for the stage in career is critical. Demonstrated experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams is desirable.
