Salary (for first two years): Rs. 12,000/-PM + HRA; Subsequent years: Rs. 14,000/- PM +HRA; For PA (level-II)- Rs. 12000/ PM consolidated.
Qualification: M.Sc. first class in Botany/ Biotechnology/Biochemistry/ Microbiology/Environmental Science with DBT- JRF, CSIR-UGC NET including NET (LS) or valid GATE score. The selected JRF will be allowed to register for Ph.D. Non
*NET/GATE qualified candidates may also be considered for Project Assistant (PA, level-II) if found suitable.
General Conditions: The Discipline of Marine Biotechnology and Ecology of CSMCRI, Bhavnagar is actively engaged in multidisciplinary research in frontier areas of modern biology and biotechnology. Some of the ongoing/new projects (sponsored by CSIR, DBT, etc) of the Discipline for which we wish to recruit 10 Junior Research Fellows and 2 Project Assistants (level –IV) are:
- Cloning and characterization of stress-responsive genes, promoter isolation and development of transgenic crop plants
- Climate change and adaptation- Phenology and population dynamics of halophytes
- Environmental monitoring (sea, sediments and inland areas)
- Mapping of marine biodiversity (seaweeds and marine microbes) using molecular tools and techniques.
Age: Not more than 28 years as on interview date (relaxation as per CSIR rules).

The short listed candidates will be intimated through e-mail about the time and date of the test/interview to be held in the last week of March 2010 at CSMCRI, Bhavnagar. The posts are purely temporary for duration of sponsored project/scheme only. It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim implicit or explicit for any candidates for claiming extension or absorption in CSMCRI/CSIR.
*No traveling or any other allowances will be paid for attending the interview.
