Duration: May 27 to June 04, 2010

The Program covers the following techniques:

Isolation of Nucleic Acids and electrophoresis (Plasmid DNA, RNA)
PCR (RT-PCR, Real time PCR)
cDNA Synthesis
Cloning
Protein isolation, separation and purification (SDS PAGE, Native PAGE, HPLC, FPLC, FF)

IISc MSc Summer Training for SC/ST Students-2010

Features of the Programme: Selected candidates will work with one of the IISc Faculty members and learn various techniques used in research for a period of one month during May-June 2010.

Eligibility: SC/ST students studying I year M.Sc in science disciplines (Biological, Physical, Chemical and Mathematical Sciences) or III year B.E./B.Tech or equivalent degree, during the academic year 2009-10.

Selection Criteria: IISc. will evolve a suitable criteria for selecting the candidates for the programme.

Financial Support: IISc. will provide: – Travelling allowance equivalent to II Class train fare from College/residence to IISc. and back. -

Free board and lodging (on shared basis) at IISc

Fellowship of Rs.5,000/- and a book grant of Rs.1500/

They will work within a multidisciplinary team to:

2.identify and document all key inflammation-relevant biological pathways and biomarkers

3. identify and document all key inflammation-relevant internal/external in-vitro assays and in-silico virtual screening models

Qualifications :

Master’s degree in Biochemistry / Immunology / Pharmacology / Biotechnology/ Microbiology
Ph.D. in Immunology and/or Biochemistry with hands-on computational modeling experience in QSAR/QSPR modeling and 3D Docking virtual screening.

IISER – Kolkata invites application for summer research programme in pure science. Under this programme, students are
allowed to take part in ongoing research activities at IISER-K, under the supervision of faculty members. The duration of this programme is about 6-8 weeks, starting from 3rd week of May 2010.

Biotech Summer Training Programme 2010, IIT Madras

The IITM – Summer Fellowship Programme of two months with stipend is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young Engineering, Management, Sciences and Humanities students through a goal oriented summer miniproject undertaken at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Eligibility: Candidates pursuing third year of B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg)/Integrated M.E./M.Tech. programme, first year of M.Sc./M.A, MBA with outstanding academic background in terms of high ranks in university examinations, papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained, are encouraged to apply.

Period of the Project: The contact period for the project will be two months normally during 17 th May- 16 th July 2010. However depending on the convenience, the selected candidates can undertake the project at any time subject to the availability of faculty.

Stipend: A sum of Rs.6,500/- (maximum) will be given as a stipend for a total period of 2 months.

Advertisement For Short Term Training, May To July 2010 Bose Institute-Kolkata

Introduction:Bose Institute will conduct short tern training for M.Sc. students in Life Sciences, Physical and Chemical Sciences from different Universities during the months of May to July 2010.

The training will be conducted by a group of Faculty Members of the Institute who would take students based on their own discipline and Academic Interest and those of the students.

1. Ten (10) students nominated either by the Indian Academy of Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), KVYP (DST) or holdingBose Institute Fellowship among JBNSTS Scholars will be taken in for short term training, as per schedule decided by the nominating authority. Prior approval will have to be obtained from the Bose Institute by the students while making such applications to the different organizations.

2. Ten (10) M.Sc. students from Universities of Calcutta, Jadavpur, Kalyani, Burdwan, Visva Bharati, Vidyasagar and North Bengal University may be accepted for short term training after the respective Universities (or the Head of the Departments) enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with Bose Institute. Such students would be taken in on recommendation from the respective Heads of Departments and further selection by the Institute.

3. Twenty (20) M.Sc. students from other Universities would be accepted having been selected by a Committee appointed by the
Director of the Institute. Application for such training will be received from students having first division/ first class from 10th grade to Master’s degree examination which should include thecomplete biodata of the students along with a one page write up describing in short of his/her area of interest and why Bose Institute is being chosen for the training along with a forwarding letter from the
Departmental Head/Chairman.
